About The Position

The Licensing Manager at Life is Good is responsible for connecting the brand and mission with the world beyond the company's walls by building relationships, managing details, and ensuring mutual success with partners. This role extends the reach of Life is Good by identifying and connecting with the right partners in the right categories to delight existing customers and introduce new ones to the brand. The manager acts as the connective tissue between Life is Good and its licensing partners, driving growth for both parties. The role is based in Boston, with an on-site requirement of Wednesdays and Thursdays. The company utilizes a market-based compensation strategy and offers an annual bonus based on company performance for permanent roles. All applicants will receive a response from a human.

Requirements

  • Experience in brand licensing, including licensed-in property management and licensed-out partner management.
  • Experience with consumer products, with exposure to the apparel industry.
  • Managed product approval workflows using licensing software.
  • Worked with PLM systems for item setup and costing.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable with project management tools.
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator and ability to handle and edit artwork files.
  • Experience preparing presentations and presenting to varied audiences.
  • Successfully integrated AI into daily workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for 6-8 Life is Good licensees, deeply understanding their business and working with them to meet and exceed revenue goals.
  • Act as the lead team member and primary point of contact for all properties Life is Good licenses in, including partnerships with Dr. Seuss, Rudolph, NASA, and Airstream.
  • Manage incoming product samples from all licensing partners, maintaining an organized sample inventory in the Boston office and ensuring samples are available for internal reviews and photography.
  • Track sales and royalties across the licensed product portfolio and maintain accurate executive reports, collaborating with partners on rolling forecasts.
  • Drive cross-functional coordination across Finance, Legal, Marketing, Product, Wholesale, and eCommerce to provide partners with timely support.
  • Develop and maintain detailed product launch calendars for inbound licensing collections, facilitating internal meetings to ensure clear communication and on-time deadlines.
  • Lead the process of purchasing licensed products for resale through Life is Good selling channels when applicable.
  • Partner with Marketing to keep sell-in materials, such as Brand Decks and Brand Videos, optimized and current.
  • Organize and maintain all partnership assets, creative files, contracts, and approvals to ensure information accessibility and accuracy.
  • Track eCommerce sales and wholesale bookings of licensed product and maintain executive reports, ensuring partners have access to best-selling graphics.
  • Develop and oversee a quarterly Licensee Newsletter to connect partners with each other's successes and challenges at retail.
  • Build and deliver presentations for key moments, including Sales Meetings and Quarterly Family Meetings.
