About The Position

The Licensing and Compliance Clerk serves as the primary point of contact for constituents of the Auto Dealer Services Division (ADSD). In this role, you will assist with dealer license applications, license plates, and general licensing inquiries. You will communicate directly with dealers and constituents to guide them through licensing processes, provide answers to their questions, log and route dealer complaints, and support the distribution of ADSD mail. You will also ensure that all required fees are received, recorded, and applied accurately.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate ideas, issues, and system bugs to management.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a proven ability to prioritize daily tasks.
  • A cooperative team player dedicated to collaborating with colleagues to achieve departmental goals.
  • Willingness to assist team members and support various office functions as needed.
  • Maintains a respectful, considerate, and professional demeanor with all colleagues, dealers and constituents.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education or relevant professional experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage your daily work queue with minimal supervision to keep processes moving forward.
  • Ensure dealers comply with Indiana law by carefully and timely reviewing license applications and renewals, bond and insurance updates, and various license requests (e.g., changes of location, business name, ownership, entity updates, additional plate requests, and off-site sales requests).
  • Provide helpful customer service in all daily communications, responding to inquiries and dealer phone calls, emails, and faxes within a friendly 24-hour window.
  • Act as the next level of support for our call center (Netfor) when inquiries need to be escalated to a specialist.
  • Perform general administrative tasks like scanning, copying, faxing, and filing, while operating and maintaining our office equipment and supplies.
  • Quickly identify when assistance is needed by another state or county agency and guide dealers and constituents to the right place.
  • Securely and accurately process check and credit/debit card payments.
