About The Position

MilliporeSigma Corporation is searching for a Licensing and Business Development Director within the Life Science sector covering Biology and other businesses. The role involves identifying, cultivating, and executing external partnerships aligned with Life Science and portfolio strategies. The Director will source and manage a broad network of partners to develop a robust pipeline of opportunities for strategic partnerships and licensing, contributing to annual revenue and margin targets. Deal types include co-development, in-licensing, out-licensing, distribution, co-marketing, OEM, and research collaborations. Responsibilities include scouting partners, evaluating and negotiating deals, drafting and executing contracts, and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders such as R&D, legal, product management, regulatory, and quality. Additional business-related tasks may be assigned to support team objectives and ensure operational efficiency. Travel, including international, up to 30% of time is required. The position is open to any location with close proximity to an airport.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biology or Chemistry
  • 10+ years industry experience in corporate development, strategic partnerships (non-sales), BD&L with demonstrated deal closure of single deals valuing >=10M USD+ 10Y NPV
  • Proven experience in negotiating complex deals, with a solid understanding of contract fundamentals and strong negotiation skills.
  • Proven experience in negotiating a wide variety of deals, encompassing in-licensing, out-licensing, distribution, and co-development agreements, among others.
  • Financial acumen and ability to build and defend financial analyses and business cases including DCFs for both consumables and digital assets.
  • Strong networking and intelligence gathering skills.
  • Ability to operate as individual contributor in the face of ambiguity, shifting priorities, and limited resources.
  • Strong presentation skills targeted to C-suite audiences.
  • External applicants must be eligible to work in the US.
  • Deal sheet required as attachment to application.
