Licensed Veterinary Technician - CVT or LVT - South Metro Animal Emergency Care
About The Position
South Metro Animal Emergency Care is a 24/7, AAHA-accredited emergency hospital in Apple Valley, MN, seeking credentialed veterinary technicians (CVT/LVT) who are passionate about patient care, teamwork, and continuing to grow their skills in emergency medicine. Technicians are considered an essential part of the medical team, with meaningful responsibility and a voice in patient care and hospital flow. The role involves collaborating with DVMs on patient care, client communication, and hospital operations. Typical cases include toxins, foreign bodies, urinary obstructions, respiratory emergencies, trauma, surgical emergencies, and critical care for hospitalized patients.
Requirements
- Licensed/Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT or LVT)
- Passion for patient care, teamwork, and skill development in emergency medicine
- Ability to use full skill set and take ownership of patient care
- Willingness to be a medical professional and have a voice in patient care and hospital flow
- Ability to collaborate with DVMs
- Strong communication skills for client interaction
- Ability to place IV catheters, NG tubes, central lines, and PICC lines
- Ability to apply splints and bandages
- Ability to run and monitor anesthesia
- Ability to oversee and perform treatments for hospitalized patients
- Ability to monitor and advocate for patients
- Willingness to mentor and support teammates
- Experience in emergency medicine or a strong GP technician background ready to transition

Responsibilities
- Performing initial triage and collaborating directly with DVMs
- Reviewing treatment plans with clients and answering questions with empathy and confidence

- Overseeing and performing treatments for hospitalized patients
- Monitoring and advocating for patients throughout their stay
