Licensed Veterinary Technician - CVT or LVT - South Metro Animal Emergency Care
About The Position
South Metro Animal Emergency Care is a 24/7, AAHA-accredited emergency hospital in Apple Valley, MN, seeking credentialed veterinary technicians (CVT/LVT) who are passionate about patient care, teamwork, and continuing to grow their skills in emergency medicine. Technicians are an essential part of the medical team, trusted with meaningful responsibility and a voice in patient care and hospital flow. They work closely with DVMs, playing an important role in patient care, client communication, and hospital operations. The hospital typically handles cases including toxins, foreign bodies, urinary obstructions, respiratory emergencies, trauma, surgical emergencies, and hospitalized/critical patients. The typical staffing model includes 2 CVT/LVTs and 2 veterinary assistants per doctor, ensuring a strong team and preventing technicians from being stretched too thin. Requirements
- Licensed/Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT or LVT)
- Passion for patient care, teamwork, and skill development in emergency medicine
- Ability to use full skill set and take ownership of patient care
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn and grow into emergency medicine
- Experience as an experienced emergency technician or a strong GP technician ready to take the next step

Responsibilities
- Performing initial triage and collaborating directly with DVMs
- Reviewing treatment plans with clients and answering questions with empathy and confidence
- Placing IV catheters, NG tubes, central lines, and PICC lines
- Applying splints and bandages
- Running and monitoring anesthesia for surgical procedures
- Overseeing and performing treatments for hospitalized patients
- Monitoring and advocating for patients throughout their stay
- Mentoring and supporting teammates
