About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated Emergency team for Mid Shift. This position is offering up to a $25,000 sign on bonus based on experience. The schedule for this role is Thursday-Saturday, 8 PM - 8 AM. The base pay ranges from $30.00 - $55.00 per hour, dependent on experience and advancement through a competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience. Shift differentials are also provided, with specific rates for weekday evenings and weekend shifts.

Requirements

Experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician
Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Responsibilities

Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
