Veterinary Technician - Overnight
About The Position
Garden State Veterinary Specialists Eatontown is hiring a Veterinary Technician for its busy overnight emergency room team. The hospital is a multi-specialty referral hospital providing 24/7 emergency veterinary care and working with board-certified specialists, emergency clinicians, and support staff. It emphasizes patient care, collaboration, hands-on learning, and professional growth. The role involves supporting emergency and hospitalized patients, assisting with anesthesia, sedation, and procedures, and performing clinical tasks such as setting up CRIs, placing IV catheters, managing fluid therapy, collecting diagnostic samples, maintaining records, positioning patients for radiology, observing radiology safety, and preparing blood or plasma transfusions. The overnight schedule is either Wednesday through Saturday, 9:30 PM–8:00 AM, or Thursday through Saturday, 6:00 PM–8:00 AM. Compensation is $23–$34 per hour, plus an overnight differential.
Requirements
- CVT, LVT, or RVT credential preferred, or at least 2 years of experience.
- Team-oriented, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Compassionate, positive, honest, and committed to providing excellent care.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Nice To Haves
- Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) credential highly valued.
- Fluency in additional languages preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with anesthesia, sedation, and procedures.
- Set up CRIs and perform medical calculations.
- Place IV catheters and manage fluid therapy.
- Monitor hospitalized patients and provide compassionate care.
- Collect diagnostic samples and maintain records.
- Position patients for radiology and follow radiology safety practices.
