Licensed Veterinary Technician
About The Position
New York City Veterinary Group is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join their team. This role involves a variety of duties including animal restraint, triage, lab sample collection and analysis, diagnostic imaging, nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases, medication administration, client communication, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and may involve exposure to unpleasant odors, noises, bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases. Requirements
- A Licensed Veterinary Technician with an active license required
- Friday and Saturday shift availability is mandatory
- Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
- Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
- Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
- Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
- Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture
- Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
- Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
- Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises
- May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases
Nice To Haves
- 1+ year professional experience preferred
- Additional skills in dental radiography being a plus
