About The Position

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections who is inspired to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy. This role allows you to shape mental health programs that support healing, growth, and long-term stability. Your leadership will help create an environment where people can build the skills and resilience they need to move toward a stronger future. The Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections plays a central role in directing psychological services and taking part in the clinical work carried out within the facility. This position oversees staff, programs, and evaluations that guide treatment and support inmates.

Requirements

  • One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or behavioral dysfunction.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants with out-of-state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the work of psychological services staff and ensure proper screening, evaluation, and treatment referral processes
  • Guide the development and improvement of psychological services programs and counseling initiatives
  • Serve as chair for key mental health and review committees within the institution
  • Establish competencies, review testing interpretations, and prepare or evaluate diagnostic and treatment reports
  • Provide guidance to specialized units and staff on mental health treatment and participate in staff meetings on inmate care
  • Testify as an expert witness when required and ensure compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) service standards
