About The Position

As a Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections with the Department of Corrections, you will play a key role in shaping mental health services for inmates at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Somerset. This position offers the chance to guide staff, participate in treatment decisions, and support high standards of care. This position manages psychological services in a correctional setting and supports programs that guide inmate treatment and evaluation. The work includes supervising staff, overseeing clinical standards, and contributing to treatment decisions and program development.

Requirements

  • One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or behavioral dysfunction.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board. Applicants with out-of-state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise psychological staff and oversee screenings, evaluations, and therapeutic services
  • Develop and guide psychological services programs and integrate new policies and procedures
  • Lead key clinical committees and participate in reviews related to mental health and crisis management
  • Review diagnostic tests and prepare or evaluate psychological reports and treatment documentation
  • Provide guidance to staff working with special needs units, behavioral management programs, and inmate care issues
