About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides nursing care to patients under the direction of a Registered Professional. The role assists with treatments and procedures and performs selected duties within the established nursing plan of care, following nursing policies, procedures, and standards to provide safe, quality care. This full-time position is based at 1 Tallowood Dr. in Clifton Park, New York, and floats between Clifton Park, Troy, and Albany. The schedule is Monday through Friday on an eight-hour day shift. Floating carries an additional 10% pay.

Requirements

Current license to practice as a Practical Nurse in New York State.
Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to lift 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

Take accurate vital signs.
Collect routine patient data according to protocols or as directed by the clinical supervisor.
Recognize high-risk situations and report them appropriately.
Consult routinely with the clinical supervisor about the plan of care.
Suggest referrals to other disciplines.
Follow protocols or clinical guidelines when establishing workflow priorities.
Demonstrate acceptable technical skills in providing care.
Follow standards of care, established protocols, and clinical guidelines in providing patient care.
Follow infection control policies when administering care.
Provide patient care in consideration of age-related requirements.
Reinforce patient and family teaching.
Administer medications safely in accordance with relevant unit policies and procedures.
Accurately transcribe physician orders.
Use computer skills relevant to the care area.
Demonstrate initiative and flexibility with assignments.
Work as a team member in carrying out assignments.
