About The Position

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is hiring an on-call Licensed Practical Nurse at the North Central Correctional Complex in Marion, Ohio. The role supports an at-risk population in a safe and secure correctional setting, providing nursing care under the direction of the RN on duty and in accordance with approved standing orders. The position is on-call as needed, with shifts from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Requirements

• Degree in nursing.
• Current, valid Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
• Attain and maintain appropriate facility security clearance.
• Successfully complete all annual in-service requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Three years of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess the condition of inmates reporting to sick call and prescribe treatment under the direction of the RN on duty and in accordance with approved standing orders.
• Assist with provider line and prepare the examining room and equipment.
• Operate pill call, dispense medication, and document as required by applicable policies and procedures; push or wheel the pill cart across the facility campus as needed.
• Control medication, syringes, and other medical supplies or equipment as required.
• Perform emergency procedures as needed and contact a physician for treatment orders.
• Keep equipment and the work area clean using appropriate sanitation methods.
• Practice basic cost containment and utilization management for patient care and facility operations.
• Maintain the security and confidentiality of medical records and follow applicable HIPAA rules.
