About The Position

Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN responsible for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. 3 South is a 36 Bed Unit consisting of an all-adult patient unit, working on a track schedule. The patient ratio is 1:5. Our Care team consists of Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistant's, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians and Occupational and Speech Therapists. New Graduate Nurses are accepted and welcome!

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent required
• Current licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensure
• BLS - American Heart Association
• RN - Board Of Nursing

Nice To Haves

• 1 – 2 years of related clinical experience preferred
• Pneumonia, Congested heart Failure, Renal failure, Sepsis, Stroke, Seizures, Respiratory illness
• CPAP, BIPAP and Telemetry required
• PCA Pumps

Responsibilities

• Participates in assessment of patient
• Collaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of care
• Follows patient’s plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patients
• Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse or other authorized person(s)
• Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
• Administers medication as ordered by physician
• Facilitates a safe environment
• Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately
• Maintains required competencies
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors the quality of care
• Establishes collaborative interpersonal relationships with other Health System staff
• Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimen
• Actively participates in cost containment and completes accurate charging for patient services
• Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP), if applicable
• Other duties as assigned
