About The Position
Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN responsible for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. 7 South is a 25 Bed Neurosurgical/Orthopedic Unit consisting of adult and geriatric patients, working on a track schedule. Patient ratio 1:5. Our Care team consists of Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistant's, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians and Occupational and Speech Therapists. New Graduate Nurses are accepted and welcome!
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Current licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensure
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
- Verbal and written skills required
- Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of the patients typically served
- Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
- Visual acuity for observation of patients
- Long periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
- BLS - American Heart Association
- RN - Board Of Nursing

Responsibilities
- Participates in assessment of patient
- Collaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of care
- Follows patient’s plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patients
- Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse or other authorized person(s)
- Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
- Administers medication as ordered by physician
- Facilitates a safe environment
- Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately
- Maintains required competencies
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors the quality of care
- Establishes collaborative interpersonal relationships with other Health System staff
- Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimen
- Actively participates in cost containment and completes accurate charging for patient services
- Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP), if applicable
