About The Position

VitalCore Health Strategies is hiring a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse for the Harrison County Adult Detention Center in Gulfport, Mississippi. The LPN delivers quality care within the scope of practice defined by the applicable state nurse practice act. The role is responsible for delegated tasks, activities, and functions, and may assign duties to others as permitted by state law. The LPN monitors patients as directed by the HSA, DON, RN, Medical Director, or another practitioner. This position works nights.

Requirements

• Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program.
• Hold a current Practical Nurse license in the state of employment.
• Have active CPR certification.
• Remain knowledgeable about state laws and regulations governing practice.
• Satisfactorily complete initial and annual clinical competencies demonstrating aptitude as assigned by role.

Responsibilities

• Use a systematic approach to meet each patient’s health needs.
• Provide nursing care within the LPN’s scope of practice and comply with applicable laws in the practice setting.
• Assist with developing and implementing teaching plans tailored to individual patient needs, covering health promotion, maintenance, and restoration.
• Clean and dress or bandage wounds appropriately.
• Administer medications to offenders.
• Provide care for multiple patients as directed by the Medical Director, DON, or Registered Nurse.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to appropriate medical staff.
• Document actions in the MAR and medical records.
• Perform other nursing duties as assigned by the facility.
• Monitor patients as directed by the HSA, DON, RN, Medical Director, or another practitioner.
• Perform delegated tasks and activities and, where permitted by state practice law, assign duties to others.
