About The Position

Geisinger is hiring an LPN for its Primary Care team at Geisinger Primary Care Pittston. The role provides primary clinical support to providers, patients, and families to assist with diagnosis and treatment, while helping ensure continuity and quality of care. The typical schedule is full time, days, 40 hours per week, usually from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Geisinger offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus for this role. The LPN obtains and documents patient histories, chief complaints, and vital signs; prepares patients for examinations; and provides direct clinical care as directed by a provider. The role also supports minor surgical and diagnostic procedures, collects and prepares laboratory specimens, follows up on diagnostic testing, communicates with patients, administers medications and vaccines within scope of practice, and maintains clean, properly prepared examination and treatment rooms. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.

Requirements

Graduate from a nursing specialty training program.
Basic Life Support certification.
Licensed Practical Nurse license.
Communication, computer literacy, customer service, mentoring, multitasking, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, and vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations.
Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
Assist providers with minor surgical and diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete related paperwork.
Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record.
Document ongoing patient communication, prioritize messages to the provider, and respond to patient questions and requests as directed.
Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal medication and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice.
Clean and prepare examination and treatment rooms between cases, ensuring asepsis and the availability of appropriate instruments and equipment.
