About The Position
TriCities Hospital is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) for its Med/Surg/Tele unit. In the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), the nurse provides vigilant care to patients transitioning from the ICU, helping them recover, avoid complications, and move toward healing while working with a critical care team. The role includes hands-on patient care, medication administration, assistance with activities of daily living, management of tubes and drains, and support for advanced monitoring. The nurse monitors patients for changes in heart rate, oxygen levels, and neurological status; promptly alerts the care team to changes; maintains clear and timely records; supports patients and families; and collaborates with registered nurses, physicians, and specialists. Requirements
- Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within six months of the employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within six months of the employment start date.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on care for patients with complex needs, including administering medications and assisting with activities of daily living.
- Manage tubes and drains and assist with advanced monitoring.
- Monitor patients for changes in heart rate, oxygen levels, and neurological status, and quickly alert the care team.
- Maintain clear and timely patient records.
- Help patients and families understand their condition and provide support during serious illness and recovery.
- Work with registered nurses, doctors, and specialists to help patients stabilize and recover after intensive care.
