About The Position

Delivers quality direct patient care under appropriate clinical supervision to patients hospitalized for treatment of psychiatric or emotional disorders. Supports the hospital and program philosophy of care and ensures each patient’s safety and well-being. Treats and cares for patients competently based on current developmental theories and psychiatric nursing knowledge and standards.

Requirements

Current LPN license in the State of Nevada.
Current CPR certification.
Ability to organize activities and schedules for patients’ medical and/or non-medical tasks.
Ability to stabilize acute psychotic and non-violent crises using accepted intervention techniques.

Responsibilities

Administer medications prescribed by a physician.
Assist Dietary Staff in identifying patients on special diets and ensuring compliance with dietary orders.
Complete nursing assessments under the supervision of an RN.
Update treatment care plans under the supervision of an RN.
Participate in treatment planning by helping identify patients’ problems, needs, and strengths; suggesting treatment-plan modifications based on observed behavior; and providing input into discharge planning.
Orient new patients to the unit, program, and milieu.
Carry out general nursing care assistance as assigned and supervised by the nurse in charge.
Maintain a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients.
Assist patients with activities of daily living when consistent with their treatment plans and needs.
Maintain accurate and legible documentation that meets current standards and policies.
Provide competent patient care based on current developmental theories and psychiatric nursing knowledge and standards.
