About The Position

The Clinic LPN provides primary clinical support to providers, patients, and families to assist with diagnosis and treatment. The role follows up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record, supporting continuity and quality of care. The LPN promotes a clean clinical environment and provides care for patients in the age range applicable to the assigned clinical area. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week union role in the Pediatrics Neurology outpatient clinic at the GWV Medical Office Building. The schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. New and experienced LPNs are welcome. Eligible candidates may receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.

Requirements

Graduate from a nursing specialty training program.
Licensed Practical Nurse license.
Basic Life Support certification.
Communication, computer literacy, customer service, multitasking, and teamwork skills.

At least 1 year of nursing experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, and vital signs; provide basic medical data to the provider and prepare patients for examinations.
Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
Assist providers with minor surgical and diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork accurately and efficiently.
Execute and document patient communications as directed by the provider, prioritize communications to the provider, and respond to patient questions and requests in a timely manner.
Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal medications and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice.
Clean and set up examination and treatment rooms between cases, maintain required asepsis, ensure instruments and equipment are available, and prepare patients.
Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record.
Promote a clean environment and provide care appropriate to the assigned clinical area's patient age range.
