About The Position

Geisinger is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for its outpatient neurology clinic at the GWV Medical Office Building. The Clinic Nurse provides primary clinical support to providers, patients, and families to assist with diagnosis and treatment. The role includes following up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record, and promoting a clean clinical environment. The nurse must meet the qualifications to care for patients in the age range served by the assigned clinical area.

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position on the day shift. New and experienced LPNs are welcome. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available to eligible candidates.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The employee is accountable for meeting job-specific obligations and following organizational policies and procedures. Department-specific orientation competencies and skills are considered essential to the role.

Requirements

• Graduate from a specialty training program in nursing.
• Licensed Practical Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Communication, computer literacy, customer service, multitasking, and teamwork skills.

• At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, and vital signs; provide the provider with a basic medical database and prepare patients for examinations.
• Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
• Assist the provider with minor surgical and diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork accurately and efficiently.
• Carry out and document patient communications as directed by the provider; prioritize communications to the provider and respond to patient questions and requests in a timely manner.
• Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice.
• Clean and prepare examination and treatment rooms between cases, maintain required asepsis, ensure instruments and equipment are available, and prepare patients.
• Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record.
• Promote a clean environment and provide care appropriate to the age range of patients in the assigned clinical area.
