Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Full-Time Day Shift
About The Position
MedHealth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide patient care in a correctional setting at the DeSoto County Jail in Arcadia, Florida. The LPN works under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians and provides care in accordance with established protocols, standards, and MedHealth policies and procedures. The role includes following County policies and procedures concerning security and patient contact, documenting patient encounters in electronic or paper medical records, and communicating special housing needs to appropriate medical and security personnel.
Requirements
- Valid, unrestricted LPN license in the state of Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and patient care.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Nice To Haves
- One year of LPN experience is preferred.
- Corrections experience is highly desired.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature.
- Assist with patient assessments and document changes in patient conditions.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Maintain a clean and safe patient environment and follow infection control protocols.
- Educate patients about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
- Provide primary care or critical care services as needed.
- Follow County policies and procedures concerning security and patient contact.
- Deliver care in accordance with established MedHealth policies and procedures.
- Document all patient encounters in electronic or paper medical records in accordance with MedHealth policies and procedures and applicable state, local, and federal guidelines.
- Communicate special housing needs to appropriate medical and security personnel.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
