Requirements

Graduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program (e.g., some states allow RN students to take the LPN board exam after completing one to two years in the RN program).
If graduation has not occurred within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.
Minnesota Licensed Practical Nurse license; active on the Minnesota Board of Nursing Registry.
Basic Cardiac Life Support for Health Care Providers Certification (must come from one of the following providers: American Heart Association, Red Cross, or Military Training Network).
Ability to work independently.
Strong commitment to teamwork, communication, and resident-centered care.
Strong problem-solving skills are necessary with the ability to collect, compare, sort and prioritize information to be used in the decision-making process for groups of residents and employees.
Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations and stress.
Works flexible hours which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.

A detailed equivalency evaluation is required, demonstrating a U.S. equivalent degree. Evaluation must be completed by an organization listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) ( www.naces.org ) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) ( www.aice-eval.org ).

Nice To Haves

One year of work experience in Long Term Care or Home Health or two years of acute care nursing is preferred.
