Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Residential Metro Float 10am-6pm
About The Position
Northstar Behavioral Health Network provides care for people with substance use disorders, including opioid and stimulant use disorders, and those needing Intensive Residential Treatment Services. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative nursing care to assigned patients, administers medication, and supports coordination and communication among patients, staff, physicians, and other members of the health care team. The role includes client admissions, narcotics counts, prior authorizations, and medication administration record (MAR) audits and compliance.
Requirements
- Must be licensed by the State of Minnesota as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Must have two years of freedom from chemical use problems.
- Must pass a State of Minnesota background check.
- Must have CPR certification or attain it within 30 days.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office programs and other computer skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative nursing care to assigned patients.
- Perform delegated independent nursing functions in accordance with established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards.
- Administer medication accurately and observe client responses.
- Coordinate communication among clients, staff, and physicians.
- Support client admissions.
- Perform narcotics counts.
- Work on prior authorizations.
- Conduct MAR audits and support compliance.
- Communicate effectively with patients as reflected in their plans of care.
- Give punctual change-of-shift reports with pertinent information about assigned patients.
- Collaborate with other health care team members to coordinate patient care.
- Answer and refer telephone calls and other inquiries to facilitate accurate, timely communication.
