About The Position

Maintains a professional and patient-centered environment in a multi-provider, multidisciplinary organization. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides care and advocates for patients of all ages and their families, adhering to nursing standards. This role involves ensuring efficient patient flow, assisting providers and staff, and performing tasks within the scope of an LPN and the Nurse Practice Act across all clinical areas.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current state licensure to practice in Massachusetts.
Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (C.P.R.) certified.
Maintains licensure and certifications.
Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles, including disease process, examinations, observations, and laboratory studies.
Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act/Code of Ethics.
Knowledge of the Nursing Process.
Knowledge of Managed Care.
Knowledge of OSHA Guidelines.
Knowledge of Emergency Procedures.
Computer skills.

Performs measurements such as height and weight.
Conducts patient tests and treatments including audio acuity, ear irrigation, EKGs, visual acuity, injections (IM, SC, ID, Z-track), medication administration, dose calculations, peak flow meter, oxygen saturation, and nebulizer treatments.
Performs laboratory tests, including CLIA waived tests, Pap smear handling, and venipuncture.
Assists with patient procedures such as wound care, maintaining sterile fields, burn care, diabetic care, applying ace wraps/splints/slings/braces, assisting with colposcopy, biopsies, suture removal, and staple removal.
Participates in the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) by reviewing patients at each visit and following up on hospital discharges.
Directs and assists medical assistants with patient preventative measure issues.
Provides patient education.
Handles prescription refills.
Performs telephone and walk-in triage.
Manages referrals and appointments.
Conducts nurse visits.
Interprets as needed and serves as a chaperone.
Ensures proper handling, cleaning, and storage of all equipment.
Participates in quality assurance monitoring and goal setting.
Participates in devising, reviewing, and revising policies, procedures, and protocols.
Maintains and encourages a teamwork approach.
Demonstrates flexibility in schedule, duties, and procedural functions.
Maintains consistent effort to improve individual procedures and tasks.
Interacts efficiently in conflict management and demonstrates effective problem-solving.
Identifies and generates solutions for operational problems, discussing them with the charge nurse or nurse manager.
