About The Position

The Physical Therapist Assistant rehabilitation team member will be an individual that is licensed in the state of Ohio, who works within a specific team structure under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist to offer rehabilitation services. These services are offered primarily to the acute-care James Cancer Hospital CCCT and will include serving the UH hospital system as assigned. Patient population served will primarily be the CCCT oncology patient sites for patients who have disorders and conditions associated primarily with oncology resulting in disorders involving brain, spinal cord injury, stroke, or other neurogenic disorders, orthopedic problems, amputations, or chronic pain. The oncology rehabilitation team members report to a rehabilitation manager, and team leaders as assigned, as part of the overall Rehabilitation Services Division structure. Each oncology rehabilitation team member is first a part of a group effort to provide care within a continuous performance improvement environment, and secondly a distinct professional who provides specific contributions to the team approach. Team members provide a wide variety of treatment techniques; provide education and support to patients and families; and facilitate continuing care planning. Team members participate in outcomes management activities. Although team members report directly to a rehabilitation manager, they are also responsible to each other, to those they supervise (student medical assistants and clinical students) and to other participants in patient care activities, including attending and resident physicians, nurses, their support staff, and, Case Managers and/or Patient Care Resource Managers to assure coordination of services and programs.

Requirements

  • Licensed in the state of Ohio
  • Associate's Degree
  • Licensed by their respective board
  • All academic degrees must have been granted from an accredited institution

Nice To Haves

  • One-two years' experience working in a medical setting is preferred
  • New graduates will be considered if they have completed a majority of their clinical work in this setting
