About The Position
Warby Parker is seeking a skilled, enthusiastic Optician to join its in-house optical team and help customers with their eyewear needs. The role involves becoming an expert in the brand and its glasses, delivering extraordinary customer service, and helping customers feel confident about their eyewear. The Optician works collaboratively with teammates and can access career-advancing resources and benefits. The Optician takes and records measurements, adjusts and fits eyewear, checks finished eyewear against optical standards and customer requirements, explains prescription terminology and product offerings, and helps customers select frames and lenses suited to their prescription, fit, style, and lifestyle. The role also contributes to team practices for sales and customer service and represents Warby Parker’s brand, values, and mission.
Requirements
- Be a licensed dispensing optician in states that require a license, or an ABO-certified optician in non-licensing states.
- Be passionate about the eyewear and retail industries.
- Communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally, including explaining technical terms in an understandable way.
- Be dedicated to exceeding expectations for customers and teammates.
- Be an energetic, positive team player who can adapt to a fast-paced, changing work environment.
- Be detail-oriented and able to manage a wide range of responsibilities.
- Be open-minded and committed to learning and challenging existing knowledge.
- Not be listed on the Office of Inspector General's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers to meet their eyewear needs.
- Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear accurately.
- Check that finished eyewear meets optical standards and customer requirements and requests.
- Explain prescription terminology and product offerings to customers.
- Work with the team to ensure customers receive exceptional service.
- Help customers choose frames and lenses based on prescription needs, fit, personal style, and lifestyle.
- Collaborate with the team to develop sales and customer-service best practices that can be implemented throughout the organization.
- Represent the brand and educate others about Warby Parker’s values and mission.
