Youth Villages is seeking a Licensed Middle School Teacher for its residential programs in Tennessee and Georgia. These programs provide safe, nurturing environments for youth ages 6 to 17 with complex behavioral and mental health challenges. Residential campuses offer intensive treatment that balances structure and freedom, with the goal of preparing youth to succeed outside a residential setting. Most youth attend fully accredited schools located on campus, where small class sizes—typically 8 to 15 students—allow for individual attention. Schools operate year-round. The teacher plans and leads individual and group learning activities, develops classroom teaching techniques, and prepares lessons that reflect students’ individual educational needs. The position also involves testing and interpreting results, maintaining student and treatment-related records, preparing reports, and completing daily documentation in an electronic medical record system. The teacher participates in training and in-service activities and performs other duties as assigned. The supervision and treatment of youth can require prolonged walking, standing, running, stair climbing, and physical agility. Teachers must be able to participate in physical interventions when necessary, frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds, complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR trainings, and pass an agility and strength evaluation. A current, valid driver’s license is required.
