About The Position

The Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor at CLEARFORK ACADEMY is responsible for providing addiction and mental health treatment to patients in the Resident Treatment (RTC), Partial Hospital Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient program (IOP) and outpatient program. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the LCDC will perform direct services, group psychotherapy, psychoeducation assessments, consultations and crisis interventions, and recovery groups (AA, NA, CR) within the scope of the respective individual’s license. CLEARFORK ACADEMY will ensure that discharge from treatment is conducted in accordance with Texas rule standards. CLEARFORK ACADEMY provides both Texas and Joint Commission environment of care standards. CLEARFORK ACADEMY will take all necessary and appropriate measures to maintain individual client records and information in a confidential and professional manner. Requirements

Associate Degree in Associated Field of Study (Preferred)
Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) as defined by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS)
1 to 3 years work experience in a field directly related to mental health or substance abuse treatment
Current CPR/FA certification
Current Handle with Care Physical Holding Instructor Certification
Knowledge of industry standards: organization, theory, principles, and research processes, accreditation and regulatory standards, ability to assess clinical care requirements based on psychotherapeutic and human development principles, scope of practice, and regulatory standards.
Enhanced knowledge about substance use disorders and addiction.
Professional readiness: Issues related to self-awareness, diversity, ethics, and continuing education.
Knowledge of evidence-based supervision and treatment interventions.
Knowledge of social learning theory and behavior management principles.
Knowledge of relapse prevention strategies.
Knowledge of PC and Mac software programs, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
Written and oral communication skills; must be able to concentrate on work amid distractions such as noise, conversations, and foot traffic.
Must maintain self-control in volatile or hostile situations such as when verbally or physically confronted in an aggressive manner.
Must be able to work independently with little direct supervision in an unstructured environment with multiple demands.
Reading and writing level that can clearly express or understand complex concepts, assessments, directions and processes or sequences of events - level equivalent to at least two years of college.
Ability to represent the program well in interactions both inside and outside the facility.
Demonstrates an understanding of the developmental milestones of adolescents and young adults.

Responsibilities

Keeping abreast of current literature and developments in the field and attending required agency trainings.
Appropriate and timely documentation of clinical service provided utilizing EHR software.
Ensures to use the utmost of care in protecting the confidentiality of client records in accordance with State and Federal laws.
Collaborates with medical, administrative, billing, and recovery coach staff regarding clients in order to advocate for client progress during treatment.
Provide Professional and ethical therapy to individuals with substance abuse and/or co-occurring mental health diagnoses in treatment through group, individual counseling, family counseling, and education.
Conduct psychoeducational groups based on CLEARFORK ACADEMY’s materials, the Clearfork Way.
Lead process groups in conjunction with the weekly programming materials.
Lead and schedule clients on peer recovery concepts found in AA, NA, CR.
Act as a temporary sponsor to those needing/ wanting sponsorship.
Attend Alumni groups and events as necessary.
Must have a desire and ability to facilitate graduation ceremonies, wilderness concepts, and other experiential activities.
Attend and participate in clinical treatment team meetings.
Complete timely notes on all activities.
Documenting casework in a timely manner in compliance with agency policies and procedures, including writing objective case notes, progress and discharge reports, and other timely status reports as requested by the supervisor and according to Texas & Joint Commission standards.
Attends and engages in weekly treatment team meetings.
Presents changes, improvements or additions to protocols or behavioral health services to the team.
Understands and adheres to CLEARFORK ACADEMY’s compliance standards as they appear in CLEARFORK ACADEMY’s Policies and Procedures Manual, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and CLEARFORK ACADEMY regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Performs other duties and tasks as required.
