About The Position

Primary responsibility is to provide individual, family and group counseling, education and skill building services for clients with mental health and substance use disorders using both Western models and traditional healing practices.

Requirements

• A weighted combination of education, training and experience working with individuals with Co-occurring Disorders is required for Counselor Positions with a pay Range from MM through PP.
• MA/MS in Addictions Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or closely related field OR BA/BS Addictions Counseling, Psychology or Social Work, or closely related field.
• 4 years of direct Clinical experience in a co-occurring treatment program (if MA/MS) OR 2 years of direct Clinical experience in a co-occurring treatment program (if BA/BS).
• Licensure as LPC, LMFT, LCSW, LMHC, BHA-III or BHA-P OR Certification as Behavioral Health Counselor: Advanced or II OR Certification as Behavioral Health Counselor: Tech or I.
• Knowledge of Substance Use and mental health Disorders in the Bristol Bay Area.
• Familiarity with the culture and lifestyle of the peoples of the Bristol Bay region.
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge and skills in the American Society of Addictions Medicine (ASAM) for assessment, treatment planning and discharge.
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of best practices in counseling techniques for clients with substance use disorders.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Adherence to the National Association for Addictions Professionals (NAADAC) Code of Ethics.
• Maintenance of a personal moral code to serve as a role model for clients and the region.
• Skills to work well with diverse cultures.
