About The Position

The State of Connecticut, Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) is seeking a License and Applications Analyst in Hartford, CT. This role supports the online services offered by the License Services Division, which is responsible for the intake of all initial and renewal applications for licensure. The department handles almost 200 license types and issues 275,000 licenses annually, including 40,000 new applications and 205,000 renewal applications. The selected individual will ensure all necessary requirements are met at the time of application, processing both traditional paper and online submissions. It is a full-time, 40-hour per week position, Monday through Friday, first shift, with occasional evening or weekend hours required. The role is located at 450 Columbus Blvd in Hartford, CT, and is eligible for telework in accordance with the Telework Policy.

Requirements

Five (5) years of experience performing technical or complex clerical duties involving the review or processing of licenses, certifications or permits for a governmental regulatory agency or in a regulated industry.
For state employees, this is interpreted at the level of Office Assistant.
College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
Successful completion of a Connecticut Careers Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for the General Experience.
Must be a current State of CT employee of the agency listed above for at least six (6) months of full-time service or full-time equivalent service, absent any applicable collective bargaining language.

Nice To Haves

Experience in the administration of licensure, certification, and permitting functions pertaining to Department of Consumer Protection regulated activities in Connecticut.
Experience with the review and issuance of registrations for liquor brands.
Experience interacting with outside vendors, licensing agencies and divisions.
Experience using the Department’s E-Licensing system, including the functions, configurations, and procedural requirements needed for the issuance, tracking, and reporting of license, registration, and permits.
Experience creating and processing system workflows.

Responsibilities

Review applications for compliance with requirements and associated statutes and regulations.
Assist higher level staff with creation and modification of application templates and associated online applications.
Responsible for daily posting and maintenance of completed online applications.
Respond to inquiries and provide assistance via email and phone to applicants and consumers.
Interaction with Department enforcement divisions related to case work and background review.
Compile various reports related to initial and renewal applications.
Complete FOI requests.
