Reports to the assistant facility administrator. Responsible for coordinating library activities in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • six (6) months of library, clerical, administrative or related experience
  • US Citizenship or Lawful US Permanent Resident required
  • Must successfully complete required preservice training.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
  • Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and maintain appropriate facility clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize library program for detainees.
  • Adhere to and enforce library policies and programs.
  • Select, acquire and organize library materials for convenient access.
  • Review requests, and select books and other library materials according to mental state, educational background, and special needs of detainees.
  • Coordinate the work of detainees assigned to assist in the library and oversee the work of the detainees using the library.
  • Regular and predictable onsite attendance is required.
  • This position requires long period of standing and walking.
  • It is expected the incumbent will work overtime when directed to do so.
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  • Maintain accountability of detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.
