Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of customer service experience in a library, bookstore or retail environment
  • Scheduling flexibility
  • Experience assisting others with technology (PCs, tablets, eReaders), standard office equipment and Microsoft software
  • Experience serving as the Team Lead or Person in Charge
  • Experience with cash handling in a work setting
  • Experience with event planning or programming (such as book club, story time, scavenger hunts, etc.)
  • Experience with an Integrated Library System (ILS)
  • Experience conducting reference interviews and offering readers’ advisory assistance

Responsibilities

  • Works at the service desk, providing superior customer service providing circulation assistance, explaining library policies and resources, and answering patron’s questions
  • Opens and closes the building
  • Assists patrons with the use of standard office equipment (scanners, copiers, printers, fax machines, PCs), Microsoft software, email sites, library apps (Libby, Hoopla, etc.), and digital resources (Ancestry, Kano, etc…)
  • Reconciles receipts and deposits for the register and self-service kiosk
  • Serves as the Team Lead or Person in Charge in the absence of management
  • Assists with book displays, outreach events and programming (story time, book club, etc.)
  • Responsible for several areas of the collection, including use of Integrated Library System reports
  • Participates in Library committees and training sessions
