Performs a variety of routine clerical and technical library functions; processes various types of library materials; assists in maintaining assigned library collections; performs data entry; prepares program materials; and performs other related duties as assigned. Delivers high-quality, customer-focused services. Processes various types of library materials including books and audiovisual items; attaches property stamps, labels, and book jackets. Enters materials information into the Polaris System including barcodes, item destinations, collection codes, and call numbers; reassigns items to other library branches under the guidance of the CM Librarians. Prepares, receives, unpacks, sorts, and distributes assigned library materials, mail, and/or deliveries; reviews shipping documents for accuracy; operates forklifts and pallet jacks. Checks in and shelves library materials; organizes and maintains shelves; performs shelf reading; locates items and fills customer hold requests; unloads assigned book drops. Reviews library items for weeding; assists in cleaning library materials. Provides assistance in preparing, assembling, and distributing library programming materials including flyers, brochures, booklets, activity sheets, and/or other related items. Prepares and maintains Book Club kits for monthly distribution to the branches. Demonstrates punctuality and regular and consistent attendance. Brings matters of public concern regarding waste, inefficiency, corruption, discrimination, and safety to the attention of Library Management. Accurately communicates the Library’s policies to members of the public in all job-related contacts. Positively reflects Pierce County Library’s mission, vision, and values to members of the public and to staff. Performs other specialized duties relative to area of assignment as assigned or required.
