About The Position

Geisel Library at Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, seeks a part-time Periodicals Supervisor to join their team. This is a fall and spring semester (16 weeks each term) position, working Monday’s 5:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. and Saturday’s 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Candidates must complete the online application, and provide a cover letter, resume, and three references to be considered for the position.

Requirements

Able to work independently and follow directions
Reliable and dependable attendance, including the ability to work during severe weather events
Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to resolve patron concerns and difficulties with tact, courtesy, and sound judgment
Flexibility to assist in occasional coverage of other shifts
Proven history of working in a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude
Demonstrated capacity for embracing change and new initiatives, programs, and services
Strong office and computer skills
Ability to lift 30 pounds

Nice To Haves

Supervisory experience
Experience working with library computer systems, such as Sierra, LibGuides, and Illiad
Ability to assist the college in advancing its Catholic identity and strategic priorities, which include institution-wide diversity and inclusiveness

Responsibilities

Managing all Periodical Desk operations during assigned hours
Checking out library materials using an automated library circulation and security system
Supervising student assistants
Aiding patrons with photocopying, scanning, and printing
Maintenance of the library collection such as shelving materials and shelf reading
Assisting with Interlibrary Loan request processing
Assisting with the security of users and collections
Opening/closing the library
Other projects as assigned
Cross-trained to provide supervision of Circulation Desk operations
