About The Position

This position plans, markets, and facilitates educational, recreational, and cultural programs for adults, teens, and children at various locations throughout the County. Responsibilities include planning and preparing publicity for programs, promoting Library events at community events and meetings, and collaborating with community partners to offer relevant, partner-led outreach programs. The role also involves maintaining a catalog of ongoing programs, introducing new programs and special events in response to patron and community demand, and researching current trends to incorporate into programs. Additionally, the position coordinates the set up and take down of outreach spaces and is required to complete 24 hours of professional development annually. The role demands a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and requires the ability to respond to emergency or crisis situations as assigned, potentially including presence at the Emergency Operation Center (EOC). Other duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a library, school, event planning, public relations, or similar setting.
  • Must be able to keyboard accurately.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a library, school, event planning, public relations, social media, marketing, or similar setting.
  • Must be able to keyboard accurately and have a good understanding of Microsoft Suite applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Must have a good understanding of Canva and other graphic design applications.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Any combination of education and experience may be substituted, so long as it provides the desired skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as a regular part of their work week.
  • In case of emergency or crisis situation (hurricane, flood, etc.) position is required to respond/perform emergency and recovery duties as assigned by the County Manager or designee.
  • During an emergency or crisis situation, this position may be required to be present at the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) to provide assistance while activated.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Plans and creates content for daily social media posts, newsletters, and website updates to be posted by County Communications Office.
  • Responds to social media posts.
  • Acts as the primary liaison for communications purposes to include flyer creation and branch flyer checks before submitting them for approval.
  • Creates informational brochures and outreach materials for planned events.
