About The Position

Garfield County Public Library District (GCPLD) is hiring a customer-focused Library Associate to support daily library operations and enhance services for the Youth community at the Carbondale Branch Library. This full-time position (40 hours/week) focuses on creating welcoming, creative, and engaging experiences for school-aged kids, including leading activities, building relationships with young patrons, visiting schools, and assisting with juvenile and young adult collection maintenance. The role also involves supporting the Youth Services Coordinator with patron services, programming, events, and outreach, and performing storytime in their absence. The ideal candidate is empathetic, detail-oriented, reliable, comfortable working with diverse patrons, and willing to learn and adapt. Full availability for weekend rotation and one evening a week until 7 pm is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
One year of clerical or customer service experience preferred.
Proficiency in technology (Microsoft Suite, Apple products, and web browsers).
Full availability for weekend rotation and to work one evening a week until 7 pm.

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree or higher.
Bilingual Spanish/English skills.

Responsibilities
