Library Associate Substitute
About The Position
Shaker Heights Public Library seeks enthusiastic, flexible, customer-focused candidates to fill the position of Substitute Library Associate to work in our Adult Services department at our Main Library and Bertram Woods Branch. We are an innovative, community-focused first-ring suburban library whose mission is to strengthen our diverse community and transform lives by bringing together people, information, and ideas. We promote equity and inclusivity in all aspects of our customer service. The Substitute Library Associate assists adult customers of all socioeconomic backgrounds with reference questions, readers’ advisory services, and technology. Must demonstrate ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate and secure manner and interact appropriately and effectively with a culturally diverse workforce and community. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential. This job description is intended to represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the scheduling needs of the library system.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with reference desk library experience is required.
- Must be familiar with online databases and the internet.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and/or weekends.

- Public library experience preferred.
