About The Position

Provides comprehensive reference and research support across in-person and virtual platforms, delivers information literacy instruction, and develops learning resources. The role collaborates with faculty to support curriculum-aligned collections, engages in outreach and professional development, and contributes to library operations, student success initiatives, and institutional service through instruction, training, and committee work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field.
• At least three years of professional experience in a library environment, preferably in an academic or open-access institution.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
• Experience with Ex Libris systems (Alma/Primo), particularly in an academic library setting.
• Experience in marketing or promoting library resources and services.
• Evidence of initiative in developing innovative, forward-looking library services or programs.
• Knowledge of library systems and operations, including circulation, cataloging, and bibliographic description.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including the ability to present information to a range of audiences.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
• Demonstrated commitment to customer service and user-centered library practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Proficiency with standard office and information technologies, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, and internet-based tools for communication and reporting.
• Demonstrated success working with people with a wide range of experience and a strong commitment to creating welcoming, accessible library services for all community members.
• Active engagement with the mission of comprehensive community and technical colleges.

Responsibilities

• Provides reference and general library services in person and online, through both on-demand and scheduled support.
• Provides research, reference, and information literacy support to students, staff, and faculty through multiple service modalities (in person, online, chat, embedded, etc.).
• Assists the Library Director with data collection and reporting of library metrics, e.g., library usage, services, collections and instructional activity.
• Contributes to the library’s instruction program by delivering information literacy instruction, developing instructional materials and assessments, creation of learning objects, and participating in ongoing evaluation and improvement of student learning outcomes.
• Collaborates with faculty and the library team to develop and maintain collections aligned with curriculum needs, programs, and student learning priorities.
• Performs general library and administrative duties as assigned, which may include circulation, faculty outreach, and material processing, consistent with department needs.
• Works closely with the Library Director to develop, implement, and administer library policies, practices, and procedures.
• Engages actively with professional development to remain current with trends in information literacy, instructional technology, librarianship, and higher education.
• Collaborates with other library staff and programs to support academic support services.
• Travels as needed to other campus locations, community events, and local high schools to conduct instruction sessions, outreach, and provide training to meet department and institutional goals.
• Provides work direction, guidance, and training for part-time staff and student workers as assigned.
• Serves on college and/or system committees as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned in support of the library and institutional priorities.
