About The Position
The Allen County Public Library is hiring a full-time Librarian for its Pontiac Branch in Fort Wayne. This onsite role focuses on community outreach, Studio programs, and customer service. The Librarian engages patrons through programming, helps maintain patron accounts and supports renewals and management of fines and fees, registers new library cards, and fosters a welcoming sense of belonging. The Pontiac Branch features a StoryScape that promotes early literacy and a Studio with equipment patrons of all ages can learn to use.
Requirements
- Programming skills and a passion for service.
- Familiarity with the principles and practices of library sciences and services.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Organizational skills for records management and compliance with standard office practices.
- Ability to connect with individuals from all backgrounds and foster an inclusive atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Conduct community outreach.
- Provide Studio programs.
- Deliver customer service support.
- Engage patrons through programming opportunities.
- Help patrons maintain their accounts, update or renew materials, and manage fines and fees.
- Register library cards for new patrons.
- Prepare informative educational materials.
- Manage records and maintain compliance with standard office practices.
