About The Position

The Liaison Engineer I/II develops engineering solutions for nonconforming parts, assemblies, and aircraft systems, including manufacturing and design issues identified during production. The role works with Manufacturing, Quality Control, and other Engineering disciplines to evaluate issues, establish corrective actions, and support safe, efficient aircraft production and continued operation. The position may address composite structures, interiors, payloads, electrical systems, functional testing, finishes, aerodynamics, electromagnetic environment, damage tolerance, fatigue, static strength, propulsion, safety, and other aircraft systems. It applies engineering judgment while considering structural integrity, regulatory requirements, manufacturing capabilities, and production priorities. The position is based at Epic Aircraft's headquarters in Bend, Oregon.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience, preferably in structural engineering, mechanical design, manufacturing engineering, or production support.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, such as aerospace, materials, mechanical, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, strength of materials, load paths, and structural behavior.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment and understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, specifications, and practical production constraints.
  • Demonstrated mechanical design aptitude and ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including investigating technical issues, evaluating alternatives, and developing practical, technically justified solutions.
  • Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) tools and familiarity with engineering analysis methods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document and explain technical decisions clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with Manufacturing, Quality Control, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Adaptability and confidence working in a dynamic manufacturing environment where technical priorities and production requirements may change.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Liaison Engineering or a Material Review Board (MRB) role, evaluating nonconforming parts and assemblies, developing engineering dispositions, and supporting manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in aircraft structural engineering, including structural calculations, static strength evaluations, load assessments, and structural repairs for nonconforming parts.
  • Hands-on experience supporting aerospace manufacturing or aircraft production, including resolving manufacturing nonconformances, production issues, and design-related challenges.
  • Experience with composite aircraft structures, particularly carbon-fiber materials, bonded assemblies, laminate construction, and composite repair techniques.
  • Experience developing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), engineering repair instructions, or other technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with aircraft structural design, load paths, mechanical joints, fatigue, and damage tolerance.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), FAA requirements, or aircraft certification processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently resolve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate nonconforming aircraft structures, parts, and assemblies and develop technically sound engineering dispositions and practical repair solutions.
  • Perform structural analysis, including static strength calculations and load evaluations, to substantiate repair designs and determine whether nonconforming components are acceptable.
  • Develop structural repair solutions for composite and metallic aircraft structures, considering structural integrity, manufacturability, and aircraft safety.
  • Provide engineering support to Manufacturing and Quality Control to investigate and resolve structural, mechanical, and design-related production issues.
  • Apply engineering principles and manufacturing knowledge to develop solutions that meet design requirements while minimizing production disruptions and improving quality and serviceability through Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements to evaluate technical issues and support engineering decisions.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality Control, and other Engineering disciplines to identify root causes, develop corrective actions, and implement improvements.
  • Investigate structural and mechanical issues affecting in-service aircraft and develop engineering solutions in support of continued airworthiness.
  • Support engineering projects involving aircraft structures, mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and flight test activities.
  • Develop and apply knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), FAA requirements, and applicable aircraft certification processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
