About The Position

Cinesite is an international visual effects and animation studio with over 30 years of experience in the film and television industry. We take pride in producing cutting-edge, award-winning works. Reporting to the Head of IT and the Lead Level 1, the Systems Administrator Level 1 is responsible for the development and maintenance of the studio's infrastructure, including network, software/hardware deployments, and user experience.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge and ability to solve both operating system and application problems in Linux, OSX, and Windows environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of PC and Mac hardware.
  • Linux Command-line skills (Red Hat Certified is an advantage).
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and LDAP.
  • Knowledge in Networking (Configuring IP’s, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Troubleshooting Network Issues, Wiring, and Tracking Network Port Changes).
  • Knowledge of Bash, Python, and/or Perl scripting (advantageous).
  • Knowledge of Mobile Device Management systems like JAMF and VMware Workspace One.
  • Basic knowledge of deployment and management systems such as Kickstart, YUM, and/or Puppet.
  • Experience with ticketing systems, and updating/prioritizing ticket requests.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work well autonomously under pressure & meet deadlines.
  • Flexible nature, be able to adapt to changing production requirements.
  • Bilingual fluency (English and French).
  • Functional proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is required for this role due to frequent interactions with non-French-speaking employees in Quebec and other Canadian provinces. It is also necessary to exchange information and coordinate activities with studios located outside Quebec in order to ensure continuous and effective service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical desktop support for the entire studio (VFX/FA artists, production, admin/support teams) on Linux, OSX, and Windows workstations and laptops;
  • Identify and resolve all workstation and laptop issues, including those related to hardware, operating systems, and software applications;
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues for all workstations, laptops, monitors, design tablets, and printers;
  • Carry out remote updates and any maintenance required to keep users working;
  • Follow-up actions in the ticketing tool (JIRA);
  • Set up and configure workstations, laptops, and other user-specific hardware;
  • Create and modify User Account, Mailing List, and Groups;
  • Support the security systems, anti-virus, and enforce studio security policies;
  • Ensure all system manuals and relevant documentation are kept updated and organized;
  • Support color calibration workflow for user displays;
  • Ensure all studio-wide Audio/Video workflows are maintained and working for productions;
  • Any other job-related tasks
