The Level 1 Assistant Manager oversees everything that happens during their shift and sets an example for the crew by following company policies and procedures. The role involves managing staffing, paperwork, cost and cash controls, food and inventory, schedules, store standards, customer service, attendance, cleanliness, marketing, and profitability. Assistant managers may also perform general store duties, including operating equipment, stocking ingredients, preparing products, processing telephone orders, taking inventory, completing paperwork, and cleaning equipment and the facility. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. The position requires strong judgment, math skills, multitasking, and the willingness to step in and perform any necessary job. This posting describes a prospective opportunity at a nearby location for someone to train as a full-time shift lead with open availability who can also close. Shifts are typically 5 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., but may start earlier or end later depending on the day's sales. Hours are scheduled according to employee availability and store needs; the posting notes that positions are part time unless otherwise stated and that full-time work may be possible depending on store hours, training, reliability, and communication with the manager. All inside positions start at minimum wage. Assistant wages range from $15.95 to $18.26, with raises based on completion of training evaluations. Monthly bonuses may be offered when criteria and responsibilities are met, but are not guaranteed. Medical, dental, and vision insurance are available to employees who have worked at least one year and average at least 32 hours per week. Sick pay follows Oregon state requirements. The work includes standing for most of the shift, short-distance walking, occasional desk-based paperwork, and frequent reaching and hand use. Tasks can involve lifting and carrying supplies, pushing or pulling trays on dollies, and occasionally using stairs or a ladder. The work environment may include temperatures from 36 degrees in the cooler to 90 degrees or higher in some areas, hot surfaces and tools, sharp edges, moving mechanical parts, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, and varying weather during outdoor tasks or deliveries.
