About The Position

DAC Beachcroft is building out our newly-opened Los Angeles office, and we're hiring an experienced Legal Secretary to support two senior attorneys as they grow the practice. This is a hands-on role where you'll be the operational backbone of the office. You'll manage filings, draft and finalize documents, keep matters moving, and free up the attorneys to focus on legal work. Requirements

  • Experience supporting a senior partner or executive in a law firm, litigation practice, or legal department
  • Strong working knowledge of California court filing requirements, including e-filing, physical lodging, service requirements, and clerk communications
  • Proven experience drafting, formatting, and managing legal documents
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal software platforms
  • Ability to manage competing priorities calmly under deadline pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to work independently
  • Willingness to work on-site 4 to 5 days per week initially
  • Professional presentation, including on video calls

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal experience or paralegal-adjacent training
  • Familiarity with iManage, Intapp, or similar legal practice management systems
  • Experience supporting multiple attorneys concurrently

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, draft, revise, and proofread pleadings, motions, briefs, subpoenas, discovery responses, notices, and correspondence
  • Manage California state and federal court filings end-to-end, including e-filing platforms, formatting compliance, service lists, cover sheets, fee schedules, and local rules
  • Serve as the point of contact for court clerks on filings, orders, and status updates
  • Assemble exhibit sets and prepare Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities
  • Redact confidential information and ensure submissions are accurate
  • Open new matters and run conflicts checks
  • Track litigation deadlines and maintain a master matter list
  • Ensure all documents and communications are properly stored in the firm's document management system
  • Manage attorney calendars and coordinate meetings, travel, and logistics
  • Run monthly time entry, pre-bills, billing, and collections follow-up
  • Coordinate office operations, expense reporting, and vendor management
  • Serve as the point of contact between attorneys, clients, court personnel, process servers, and opposing counsel
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism, responsiveness, and discretion
