Legal Operations Specialist

LumaRedwood City, CA
$250,000 - $300,000

About The Position

You'll own how Luma contracts, from the first intake form through to the signed agreement. As our Legal Operations Specialist, you'll design the systems in Ironclad that let the company move quickly on agreements while keeping risk in check, and make Legal something Sales relies on rather than waits on. Most of this isn't in place yet. You'll be deciding how the contracting workflows, the Ironclad configuration, and the reporting should work, not stepping into a defined process. That suits someone who has set up legal operations before and is comfortable making those calls. If you'd rather inherit an established process and refine it, this likely isn't the right fit.

Requirements

  • Hands-on Ironclad CLM experience — configuring workflows, managing permissions, and pulling reports, not just using it as an end-user. This is what we'll focus on most.
  • A firm grasp of contract lifecycles and the anatomy of commercial agreements.
  • 2+ years in contract administration or legal operations.
  • Evidence you've moved a metric: faster turnaround, more self-service volume, fewer stalls.
  • Clear communication and conflict resolution, and the resourcefulness to hit tight deadlines without a manual to follow.
  • Curiosity for AI and how to automate the manual parts without lowering the bar on accuracy or ethics.
  • BA/BS or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing AI tools for contract extraction, auditing, or legal-tech automation.
  • A track record aligning Legal, Sales, and other teams cross-functionally.
  • Quantified wins you can point to, like a measurable drop in turnaround time.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own Luma's contract lifecycle in Ironclad — intake, playbooks, approvals, and integrations.
  • Design standardized intake workflows and self-service playbooks so Sales and internal teams can move on agreements without waiting on Legal.
  • Set up automated approval routing that shortens cycle time while keeping risk controlled across every agreement type.
  • Run the contract database as the single source of truth — attribute extraction, regular audits, and a clean template repository.
  • Build the reporting on contract volume, turnaround, and KPIs, and use it to find and clear the bottlenecks.
  • Connect Legal, Sales, and the wider business so the process gets adopted rather than worked around.
