The Center for Disability & Elder Law (CDEL) is seeking a law student intern for Winter/Spring 2027. The internship is expected to be primarily hybrid, combining remote and in-person work. CDEL provides training and supervision. The internship is unpaid, though externship credit and possible funding through law schools or outside agencies may be available; CDEL will work with students and their advisors to arrange the internship. Interns manage extensive cases and a client caseload under supervision, with substantial interaction with candidates and clients. They participate in all aspects of client files, from screening and intake through document review and full direct representation. Opportunities may also include CDEL community clinics, workshops, and help desks. Practice areas include estate planning, adult guardianship, housing, consumer debt and collections, and family law. Interns develop skills in interviewing candidates for service, reviewing documents, drafting court and other legal documents, providing direct legal assistance, and litigation, all under supervision. CDEL particularly encourages applications from students interested in elder law, disability law, estate planning, housing law, and public interest work. Bilingual and multilingual students are also strongly encouraged to apply. CDEL describes itself as an equal opportunity employer and a welcoming community that engages, encourages, and empowers members of underrepresented communities. It centers the diverse identities and experiences of its clients and encourages applications from people with those identities and from other marginalized and underrepresented communities. Applications are considered as received.
