About The Position

MATTE is seeking an Editing Intern to help create short-form content, working with post-production leads and creatives from initial cuts through final delivery. The intern will edit social content and cutdowns and explore how AI tools can improve editing processes, including footage organization and workflow efficiency. The internship provides hands-on learning in a collaborative creative environment, guidance and feedback from industry professionals, exposure to the creative process from initial ideas through execution, and opportunities to build a professional network and explore career paths. Academic credit may be available, subject to the school’s requirements and approval. The internship is unpaid, and interns are not eligible for employee benefits.

The intern must be enrolled in a university undergraduate or master’s program, available for at least 16 hours per week across two on-site days at MATTE’s New York City offices, and available for the full program from February 3 through May 12, 2027. All internships begin February 3, 2027.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a university undergraduate or master’s program.

• Hands-on experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and a reel or samples of short-form edits; school and personal projects are welcome.
• An eye for pacing, sound, and visual storytelling, with an interest in social content.
• Strong working knowledge of Claude and other AI tools, particularly for organizing tasks and improving workflows.
• Strong attention to detail and an organized approach to project files, revisions, and delivery.
• A proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to experiment, ask questions, and learn from feedback.

Nice To Haves

• Basic motion graphics skills or familiarity with Adobe After Effects.
• Experience using scripting or structured prompts to build repeatable AI-assisted workflows.

Responsibilities

• Edit short-form social content and cutdowns for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and YouTube, with guidance from post-production leads and creatives.
• Support editing from footage review and initial assembly through revisions, versioning, and final exports.
• Help build and refine AI-assisted workflows for transcription, rough-cut assembly, captioning, and asset organization.
• Maintain organized project files, consistent naming conventions, and platform-specific export settings.
• Participate in creative reviews and learn how feedback shapes pacing, storytelling, and final edits.
