About The Position

Genetec is growing rapidly, and we are looking to hire another legal counsel to join our expanding Legal Department. You will participate in a variety of innovative projects in a highly dynamic environment, ranging from contract drafting and negotiation to procurement, to products and operational teams’ support. This role offers a unique development opportunity, with a planned rotation across the different functions of the Legal Department, to learn and expand their experience and knowledge across all areas of the business.

Requirements

• Member in good standing with the Quebec Bar, or lawyers in good standing with other bar associations based in Montreal, QC.
• Approximately 4 years of relevant experience in business / commercial law, including drafting and negotiation of business agreements.
• Strong business sense and judgment.
• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team, often under strict deadlines.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities.
• High proficiency in spoken and written English and in French.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the tech industry in general.
• Mastery of another language.
• Familiarity with the software / cloud technology industry, including practices, legal frameworks, etc.
• Being a “techie”.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and draft a wide range of business contracts with the world’s largest and most sophisticated organisations.
• Assist product engineering teams with projects involving cutting-edge technologies.
• Work on technology sourcing, licensing and resale.
• Handle provision of professional services.
• Engage in public tenders.
• Manage data protection initiatives.
