About The Position

Genetec is growing rapidly, and we are looking to hire another legal counsel to join our expanding Legal Department. As a member of the Commercial, Products, and Privacy Team, you will participate in a variety of innovative projects in a highly dynamic environment, including contract negotiation and drafting, intellectual property, technology licensing, data security and privacy, and marketing initiatives. This role will allow you to shape your professional growth, while being able to rely on the mentorship and support of a solid, friendly, and energetic team.

Requirements

• Member in good standing with the Quebec Bar, or other bar associations if based in Montreal, QC.
• Approximately 3 years of relevant experience in business / commercial law, including drafting and negotiation of complex business agreements.
• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team, often under strict deadlines, and handle multiple priorities.
• High proficiency in spoken and written English and French.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the tech industry in general.
• Knowledge and understanding of the software/cloud technology industry, including practices, legal frameworks, etc.
• Being a "techie".
• Strong business sense and judgment.
• Mastery of another language.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and draft a wide range of business contracts with the world’s largest and most sophisticated organisations.
• Assist product engineering teams with projects involving cutting-edge technologies.
• Work on technology sourcing, licensing and resale.
• Handle provision of professional services.
• Manage public tenders.
• Oversee data protection initiatives.
