Legal & Compliance Intern
About The Position
As a Legal & Compliance Intern at OnePay, you’ll work alongside the Legal & Compliance team to support contracts, regulatory research, policy development, and compliance reviews across active initiatives, with a particular focus on the cross-section between financial services regulation, data privacy, artificial intelligence, and marketing compliance. You’ll gain hands-on exposure to how a fast-moving fintech manages legal risk and compliance obligations. Team Integration: You’ll be paired with Legal & Compliance team members and work alongside Product, Risk, Privacy, Marketing, and Business partners, sitting in on contract reviews, compliance meetings, privacy reviews, and policy discussions. Real-World Projects: You’ll support contract drafting and review, conduct regulatory research, help develop and update policies (including privacy notices and AI governance frameworks), and assist with compliance reviews and cross-functional projects, including data privacy assessments (e.g., CCPA/CPRA,, AI and machine-learning governance reviews, and marketing and advertising compliance reviews (e.g., TCPA, CAN-SPAM, UDAAP, claims substantiation). Skill Building & Career Growth: Throughout the internship, you’ll attend workshops focused on technical skills, resume building, interview prep, and professional development. You’ll also have the chance to engage with company leadership during networking events. Mentorship: Receive guidance and feedback from your manager, as well as a dedicated mentor who will help you navigate your internship experience, ensuring continuous learning and growth.
Requirements
- Currently in Law School.
- Interest in financial services, regulatory, data privacy, artificial intelligence, or marketing and advertising law.
- Coursework, clinic, or project experience touching financial services regulation, data privacy law, AI or emerging-technology regulation, or advertising and marketing law.
- Enjoy translating fast-moving legal and regulatory developments into practical guidance.
- Completed at least one previous internship or clerkship, or have built substantial personal or academic projects.
- Available for a full-time, 8-week program running June 21 - August 13, 2027.
- Available to work in the New York City office at least 3-4 days a week throughout the entire program.
