About The Position

As a Legal & Compliance Intern at OnePay, you will work alongside the Legal & Compliance team to support contracts, regulatory research, policy development, and compliance reviews across active initiatives, with a particular focus on the cross-section between financial services regulation, data privacy, artificial intelligence, and marketing compliance. You will gain hands-on exposure to how a fast-moving fintech manages legal risk and compliance obligations. You will be paired with Legal & Compliance team members and work alongside Product, Risk, Privacy, Marketing, and Business partners, sitting in on contract reviews, compliance meetings, privacy reviews, and policy discussions. You will support contract drafting and review, conduct regulatory research, help develop and update policies (including privacy notices and AI governance frameworks), and assist with compliance reviews and cross-functional projects, including data privacy assessments (e.g., CCPA/CPRA), AI and machine-learning governance reviews, and marketing and advertising compliance reviews (e.g., TCPA, CAN-SPAM, UDAAP, claims substantiation). Throughout the internship, you will attend workshops focused on technical skills, resume building, interview prep, and professional development. You will also have the chance to engage with company leadership during networking events. You will receive guidance and feedback from your manager, as well as a dedicated mentor who will help you navigate your internship experience, ensuring continuous learning and growth.

Requirements

Currently in Law School.
Interest in financial services, regulatory, data privacy, artificial intelligence, or marketing and advertising law.
Coursework, clinic, or project experience touching financial services regulation, data privacy law, AI or emerging-technology regulation, or advertising and marketing law.
Completed at least one previous internship or clerkship, or have built substantial personal or academic projects.
Available to work in our New York City office at least 3-4 days a week throughout the entire program.
